How long does breast reduction recovery take?
The NHS describes recovery as taking approximately two to six weeks. Many patients require two to three weeks away from work, and strenuous exercise or heavy lifting may remain restricted for around six weeks. Swelling, scar maturation, and changes in sensation can continue for months. Recovery varies according to the procedure and individual healing.
Are breast reduction results permanent?
Breast reduction produces long-lasting changes, but breast size and shape can change over time. Pregnancy, weight fluctuations, hormones, and aging may affect the remaining breast tissue. The removed tissue does not simply return through normal healing, but no surgeon can guarantee that breast size or position will remain unchanged for life.
